GTA 6 PC Release: Will It Come to PC? Requirements
Will GTA 6 come to PC? Right now, there is no GTA 6 PC release announced. Rockstar has not confirmed a PC version, no date, no store page and no system requirements. The game launches on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Everything you may have read about "minimum and recommended specs" is therefore guesswork. This article sets out what is confirmed, what Take-Two has actually said, what history suggests, and only then, clearly labelled as speculation, what a PC spec sheet might look like.

Is GTA 6 coming to PC? The short answer
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Is a GTA 6 PC version announced? | No |
| Are official PC requirements published? | No |
| Launch platforms | PS5 and Xbox Series X|S |
| Launch date | November 19, 2026 |
| Is a PC release rumoured? | Yes, one unconfirmed report points to Q1 2027 |
If you see a site listing "official" GTA 6 PC requirements, treat it as invented. Our earlier version of this article implied otherwise, which was wrong, and we have rewritten it. For confirmed platform details, see our platforms guide and the release date page.
What Take-Two has said about PC
The clearest official signal came from Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick at the company's September 17, 2026 shareholder meeting. He said Take-Two aims to launch on platforms with a meaningful audience, and that PC is increasingly important. That is a statement about strategy, not a GTA 6 announcement. It does not say GTA 6 is coming to PC, and it does not give a date.
Zelnick has also spoken in the past about the industry moving towards open platforms, and other coverage notes he has said the game starts on consoles because most of the GTA player base is on consoles. Read together, these comments are consistent with a later PC release, but none of them is a commitment. Until Rockstar or Take-Two says so directly, the accurate position is "not announced".
The October 2026 rumour: PC in Q1 2027?
On October 13, 2026, GamesBeat reported, citing anonymous sources, that GTA 6 could reach PC in the first quarter of 2027. TweakTown covered it as a report that a PC port is coming in January to March 2027. Please keep three caveats in mind:
- It is based on anonymous sources, not on a Rockstar or Take-Two statement.
- No documents, store listings or system requirements accompany it.
- GTA 6 has already been delayed twice, so any schedule can change.
Further coverage, such as HotHardware's write-up, also stresses that Rockstar has not confirmed it. Rockstar and Take-Two did not respond to the claim. It is worth following, but it should not be treated as a release date.
What history tells us: GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2
Rockstar's recent big releases give a pattern, though not a promise.
| Game | Console launch | PC launch | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto V | September 2013 | April 2015 | About 19 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 2018 | 2019 | About a year |
Both games arrived on consoles first and on PC later, with PC versions typically adding extra options and graphics settings. That precedent is why many fans expect a PC version eventually. It is also why the rumoured early-2027 window would be quicker than the GTA V gap, which is one reason to stay cautious about it.
The honest conclusion is that a PC release is plausible and would fit Rockstar's pattern, but plausibility is not confirmation.
What if you want to play on PC?
Nothing needs to be done yet, and nothing should be bought on the assumption of a PC version. Avoid:
- Pre-ordering "PC keys". No legitimate PC product exists, so these listings are mistakes or scams.
- Downloading "leaked" PC builds. Files of this kind have been linked to malware, and none is a genuine release.
- Buying hardware solely for GTA 6 before official requirements exist.
If a PC version is announced, Rockstar's own channels and its newswire will be the place to verify it. Prices, editions and the store setup for the console release are covered in our GTA 6 price guide.
What PC specs might look like (speculation)
Everything in this section is speculation. Rockstar has published no PC requirements. These numbers are not leaks, and they are not based on any internal information.
If and when a PC version appears, we can make reasoned guesses from three things: the game is built for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S hardware, PC versions of big open-world games tend to ask for a lot, and modern open-world games are generally heavy on CPU, GPU and storage.
| Component | Hypothetical minimum | Hypothetical recommended |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | Recent 6-core | Recent 8-core |
| RAM | 16 GB | 16-32 GB |
| GPU | Mid-range card with ray-tracing-capable hardware | High-end current card |
| Storage | Fast SSD, space comparable to console estimates | NVMe SSD |
| OS | 64-bit Windows | 64-bit Windows |
These ranges are deliberately vague because any more precise figure would be invented. The only storage-related data points we have are community estimates for the console version, which we cover in our file size guide, and those are unofficial too.
Why a console-first game can still hint at PC needs
The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are roughly comparable to mid-to-high-end PCs from a few years ago, which is why speculation tends to cluster around that tier. It remains speculation, and a PC port can also demand more than the console version, because PC players expect higher frame rates, resolutions and extra graphics options.
How to spot fake PC news
Interest in a PC version has produced a lot of noise. A few rules help:
- Look for the source. A real announcement will come from Rockstar's newswire, its official social accounts or a Take-Two filing. "Insiders say" is not an announcement.
- Distrust exact specs. Precise lists of processors and graphics cards before any official page exists are invented.
- Avoid downloads. No genuine PC build exists for the public, so any file or launcher claiming to be one is a risk to your computer and accounts.
- Check the date of the article. Many older pages were written before the release was dated and have not been corrected.
If the situation changes, we will update this page. For the confirmed console release details, see the release date guide.
GTA 6 Online and PC
A PC release would also raise the question of online play. Rockstar has not confirmed a GTA 6 online mode or a date for it, and the launch is presented as single-player. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy said multiplayer is coming in 2027, but that is not a Rockstar statement. Existing GTA Online continues to be supported. See our GTA 6 Online article.
